When I wanted to get into business, it wasn’t just for making money, but also to make the world a better place.
In my little experience, I’ve noticed that most businesses seem too scared to stand up for something because they’re afraid they may lose business.
There’s a high chance we may lose some business too, but I still want to risk it and stand for something we believe in and be a force for change.
Because at the end of the day, I know I will sleep better at night, knowing that we have created something a few people love than create something mediocre and have a lot of people kinda sorta like what we do.
The following are the commandments that we believe in, stand for and use as our guiding principles to ensure that we are on the right track.
Some of you will love them, while some others will not like them at all.
I believe life’s too short to waste time doing things you don’t love. If the commandments don’t interest/excite you, we won’t be a right fit for each other and you should look for a different place.
If, on the other hand, you love what we guys represent and stand for, I assure you, we’re going to become the bestest of friends and have a lifetime of memories at Beeryani Fitness.
Without further ado,
Commandment #1: We Do Not Judge/Discriminate People:
We understand that we are not perfect and that each of us has different tastes, desires and interests. Discriminating/picking on someone because he/she likes different things or has different interests is criminal. Our society and people around us, do that to us, anyway!
We, at Beeryani Fitness try to be our authentic self, no superficial masks to pretend like you are somebody you are not (I am Batman, of course).
You don’t have to be perfect, you don’t have to be right all the time.
For fucks sake, we wear masks, dance randomly and do weird shit at the gym. We love the shit out of imperfect people like you.
Commandment #2: Fuck perfection:
We’re all imperfect beings spending most of our time trying to be perfect. We make mistakes, we fuck things up every now and then.
We’ll probably never get everything right and that’s okay! We’re not going to eat the perfect meal every time and we won’t be able to workout everyday and that’s okay too!
We believe that success is not a destination, but a journey, a choice we make each day. So, we focus on getting better each day.
Commandment #3: Do not speak to people who don’t like Biryani:
Legend says that someone stole the biryani recipe from heaven and brought it back to Earth. At Beeryani Fitness, we make sure we offer our Biryani prayers to the Beeryanigod before eating it. *Nomnomnom*
We consider not eating biryani, a Blasphemous act and punish those who commit such a heinous crime by eating their favorite foods in front of them without sharing.
Commandment #4: Reminding people they’re awesome:
Life gets hard and we get fucked.
You never know what the other person is going through. Take a moment and remind them they’re awesome.
Remember that time, when you were desperately looking for someone to help/comfort you and you didn’t find anybody? How did you feel during that time?
We understand that we all have our demons to fight and that it hurts, really really bad!
So, we at Beeryani Fitness, focus on pulling each other up! When we see someone feeling low, we ask them what’s up and remind them that they’re doing a great job!
Commandment #5: Embrace Your Inner Weirdo:
It sucks to go through life wearing a mask, hiding our true selves, trying to fit in, so that we are accepted by other people.
At BF, we try to create an environment, where people don’t feel the need to hide themselves anymore.
We believe that it’s okay to be different from everyone and that one should embrace their inner weirdo! 🙂
Commandment #6: Do not let anyone define themselves by how they look or how much they weigh:
People are bombarded with tons of messages everyday about how they’re somehow not good enough and that there’s something wrong with them.
It’s just sad and wrong.
It not only doesn’t help them get in better shape, but also makes them shy away from doing anything about it.
The best environment for anyone to get in shape, is where they are not shamed for the way they look. So, do not let anyone define themselves by the way they look/weigh.
Commandment #7: We, have fun with someone, not AT the expense of someone:
We’ve all gotten carried away and made jokes about someone without realising the damage we’ve caused.
At Beeryani Fitness, we try to make sure that when we’re having fun, we’re not having it at someone’s expense.
Commandment #8: We avoid the words Should/Must:
The words ‘Should/Must’ imply our cultures and societies expectations of how we should be and what we should be doing.
The words Should/must are often used when one person (who feels morally superior) tells the other person to do something, that he/she feels is the right thing for him/her.
We believe that the pressure, words like should/must places on an individual, takes them farther away from their goals and try to avoid those words.
Commandment #9: Bring out and celebrate the best in each individual:
Most people have fucked up lives and work in stressful environments.
We are building an environment, where people forget the stress they are in and help each other bring out the best in them.
